A Cincinnati police officer was indicted Wednesday on serious criminal charges.
CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -
A former Cincinnati police officer began his five month jail sentence on Thursday.
Jose Laboy-Laviena was indicted last April for reportedly using his office to steal property or services of $1000, and later destroy evidence.
Investigators said he took money from people and promised to help with visas or criminal charges.
Laboy made a plea deal in October, pleading guilty to theft and tampering with records, both felony charges.
The judge in the case required him to resign from the department and repay his victims close to $10,000 from his police pension.
