A juvenile has been arrested in connection with multiple fires in the past 48 hours, including vandalism at a daycare center.
The suspect, identified as a 14-year-old was arrested in connection with the following instances:
-Police responded to a vehicle fire and then located graffiti on several cars and a fire in the recycle-garbage bin on January 2 in the 2200 block of S. Camino Seco
-Police responded to La Petite Academy on Golf Links Road after two burglary alarms went off. Two of the daycare's vans were on fire. Also, there was a window broken out in the front of the building. Police say there was a small fire inside the building as well.
-Trash can fire in the 2400 block of South Parillo
A K-9 was able to track a scent from the daycare to a nearby home early Thursday morning. The woman told officers that her son was not home and called police when he returned later Thursday morning.
The juvenile was arrested for various felony counts including arson, criminal damage, and third degree burglary.
All day today there was a property restoration crew out repairing the damage. Daycare staff says they have temporarily relocated their children to two of their other schools while they make necessary repairs.
Corporate communications officials with the daycare released this statement to us today saying: "We plan to resume classes at the school tomorrow. We'll also have a temporary transportation solution for pick up and drop-off's until we are able to replace our buses."
