TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

The Arizona Department of Transportation is advising motorists that an accident north of Casa Grande on Interstate 10 will cause lengthy delays in both directions through the afternoon.

The wreck involved two tractor-trailers and a pickup truck and resulted in the complete closure of I-10 for a couple of hours.

Eastbound lanes have reopened, but the investigation is still underway on the westbound side of the highway.

The head-on collision happened at milepost 184 at 9:45 this morning, and is being called a hazardous materials incident by the Arizona Department of Public Safety.

The release said an eastbound red Ford pickup truck crossed the median and hit one tractor-trailer head-on in the westbound lanes. Another tractor-trailer rear-ended the crashed semi, causing its trailer to roll onto its side.

The rolled trailer contained a hazardous material, so Hazmat crews are evaluating the scene.

Drivers traveling on westbound I-10 from Tucson to Phoenix should consider driving north on State Route 79 through Florence and then to US 60 at Florence Junction.

Travelers going from Phoenix to Tucson should consider taking US 60 eastbound through the East Valley, and turning south on SR 79 at Florence Junction.
