PULLMAN, WA – Five players scored in double figures to lead Arizona women's basketball (9-3, 1-0) to its first Pac-12 Conference win against Washington State (4-8, 0-1) in Pullman, Wash., 71-65.

Senior Davellyn Whyte (Phoenix, Ariz.) scored 12 points and dished out 11 assists in the game for her first double-double of the season. Whyte extended her streak of scoring in double-digits to 21 games, dating back to February of 2012.

Junior Alli Gloyd (Phoenix, Ariz.) led the scoring charge with 19 points and also led the team in rebounds with eight.

Arizona's post play was a big contributor in the contest, as the Wildcats outscored the Cougars, 38-22 in the paint.

Free throws also were key as UA was 14-of-15 (93.3 percent) for the game, including 9-of-9 in the last minute to seal the win. Kama Griffitts was 5-of-5, while Whyte and Gloyd were both 2-of-2.

The first half was all about runs as the Cougars came out on a 15-3 start, but Arizona answered back on a 19-2 run of its own behind Gloyd's nine points to take a 23-17 lead. The Wildcats scored 18 points in the paint to Washington State's eight, but were outrebounded 23-18 and WSU went into the locker room with a 32-31 edge.

The second half was a dogfight, as neither team led by more than five until the final minute. Griffitts came alive with nine points, including five free throws in the last 30 seconds. Arizona stayed strong at the charity stripe and finished off the game, 71-65.

The Wildcats will travel to Seattle, Wash. to take on Washington on Sunday, Jan. 6. Tipoff is set for 1 p.m. PT.
