MIAMI (RNN) - Six days into game week and one day away
from kickoff, the questions and answers are starting to repeat themselves.
Here are some of the things Alabama and Notre Dame
coaches and players said Saturday at Media Day at Sun Life Stadium.
In case any of this sounds familiar, you should know they
really believe this stuff. They say it all the time, patiently, to whoever
asks.
So maybe all this stuff is worth paying attention to, one
more time:
Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron said building a dynasty
at Alabama is never discussed. Last year's team was the national champion, this
year's team hasn't accomplished anything yet. He rides his teammates because he
wants them to do their best. He rides himself the same way.
Coach Nick Saban says "The Process" means you should try
to be all you can be. If you're running a race, don't just try to beat the guy
beside you, try to run as fast as you can. Know your goal. Plan for everything.
Finish what you start. He'd like this year's team to finish in a positive way.
Alabama players are preparing for this game the same way
they do for every other game. Coach Saban believes in doing everything the same
way. Do the little things right, and the big things take care of themselves.
Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly used to have to paint his
own field when he was the coach at Assumption College. He had to pull his car
up the night before the game, turn on the headlights and he and his coaches
lined off the field. Because of this, he really appreciates the support staff
he has at Notre Dame and respects all that they do.
Notre Dame linebacker Manti T'eo says as captain of the
team he believes the most important thing he can do for his teammates is to let
them know he loves them. He doesn't want to pester his teammates, and "get in
their air" all the time. He lets them know he's got their back when he thinks
they need it. That's pretty much what being a leader is.
"You better be prepared. If you are not prepared, you
will get what you deserve."
"If you don't believe you can do something, you're
probably right."
"You have to want to be the best. Be all you can be."
"Be prepared. Believe in yourself. Work hard. Be
prepared. Work hard."
Monday is almost here. It's time.
