TUCSON (Tucson News Now) - A man has died after he was hit by a van while walking in a crosswalk Monday morning. He's the first person to die of a pedestrian accident in the new year.
Tucson police say 21-year-old Oscar Rodriguez was crossing Valencia near Country Club. While he was crossing the roadway, the traffic signal light cycled from red to green. Other cars going through the intersection stopped for Rodriguez. Police say the van was in another lane when the victim emerged from in front of a high-profile vehicle, and he was hit.
Investigators say the driver of the van remained at the scene and participated with the investigation. No citations have been issued.
