The Tucson Water Department has prepared it's facilities for the cold temperatures.
Just like resident prep their pipes for the cold, Tucson Water is ready too. They have at least a hundred booster stations around town. It's a facility that moves water from one elevation to another and the water is eventually sent to the customer's home.
Back in 2011, the smaller pipes at some of the booster stations froze and burst. Today those pipes have been replaced and are covered. "The total cost for repairs including the materials and the labor that we had to put into fixing all the problems, was just under $500,000. So it was costly for us we have learned from that," said Fernando Molina from Tucson Water.
