The Arizona Department of Transportation, along with Pima County and the Federal Highway Administration, is working on a project on State Route 86, which is also known as Ajo Highway, from Valencia Road to Kinney Road.
ADOT says the project is aimed at improving traffic flow, enhancing safety and meeting current and future traffic needs.
A second and final public meeting on the project will take place this Tuesday from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Tucson Mountain Baptist Church Sanctuary at 5757 West Ajo Highway.
During the meeting, maps and information about the project will be on display. The public will be able to ask questions, and submit comment forms. Project team members will also be there to answer questions, and address specific concerns.
The SR 86 from Valencia Road to Kinney Road project design phase began in October 2011 and is expected to last approximately 18 months. Construction is expected to start in fall 2013 The estimated cost is $45 million.
