Federal investigators are coming to Southern Arizona today, looking for the cause of battery problems on Boeing's 787 Dreamliner.
Securaplane designs and builds only one part of the battery, its charger. That is the focus of the investigation today, as federal officials meet with the company.
Investigators in town will be testing the charger. The president of Securaplane has said the company's lithium-ion battery charger has only been used on the 787, but is being developed for other aircraft.
The NTSB is also looking into the battery manufacturer in Japan, and will also travel to Phoenix where the power unit is built.
Many may remember just last week, all Boeing 787 Dreamliners were grounded after a series of problems with the battery, including a battery fire in Boston earlier this month.
After three years of delays, the 787's were finally launched, but have been dogged by issues with the batteries and fuel leaks.
Securaplane isn't saying much except that it will support the investigation.
