Not as hot with a cold front, but hot again for the weekend

Updated:

90s returned to most of central North Carolina Wednesday, but a cold front will help drop temperatures and more rain Thursday.  The weekend though will heat up with Sunday being the hottest.

Out ahead of the cold front that will come through this afternoon, a few showers or thundershowers are expected this morning.  It will be humid all day but with more clouds around it won't be as hot as yesterday.  Highs today will be in the upper 80s.  Showers and scattered storms will be around this afternoon with the frontal passage.  Severe weather is not expected, but a gusty thunderstorm can't be ruled out during the afternoon with a locally heavy downpour possible.

Tonight look for more showers and scattered storms, mainly during the evening hours.  Overnight skies will dry out with mostly cloudy skies.  Lows by tomorrow morning will be in the upper 60s to around 70.

Drier air will try to move in behind the front on Friday and Saturday.  Skies will be partly sunny on Friday with nothing more than a stray shower or thundershower in areas south of the Triangle.  Highs on Friday will be around 87.  Saturday looks like the driest day, with mostly to partly sunny skies and a high near 90.

Sunday will be hot with a high around 95, skies will be partly sunny with an isolated PM storm possible.  Another cold front will approach on Monday, so look for some scattered showers and storms with highs in the lower 90s.

Behind the front on Tuesday, skies will clear and highs will be in the middle 80s.
