Happening today, the Tucson Unified School District hosts its second meeting to discuss where some students will attend class after their schools close.
Many will gather at Howenstine tonight to discuss the future of hundreds of students. The meeting is to discuss the placement of students in the north neighborhoods from Howenstine High, Ft. Lowell/Townsend and Shumaker.
New school boundaries have to be drawn up after TUSD voted to close down 11 schools to help bridge a $17 million budget gap.
There are a few options on the table right now for students from these three schools. For students at Howenstine, no specific high school has been named.
The meeting at the high school, off Tucson Blvd and Broadway is from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. There are additional meetings scheduled the rest of this week and into next.
