TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

The man killed in an officer-involved shooting this morning has been identified and Tucson Police say he was also responsible for a series of armed robberies yesterday.

Police say Willie Davis Jr., 23, was shot as he tried to flee from police who were investigating an armed robbery incident this morning at a 7-11 3501 East Grant Road.

According to a TPD news release, a TPD officer saw a car that fit the description of the car associated with yesterday's robberies. He pursued the car into a dead-end alley near the 3700 block of East Blacklidge.

The release said Sgt. Anthony Kadous is the officer that fired his weapon. Davis  was fleeing on foot when he pointed a handgun at Kadous. At that point, police say, Kadous fired several shots at Davis.

No officers or other citizens were injured in the incident.
