TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Carson Middle School was locked down for about two hours this morning while police searched for a gun on the campus.

According to Tucson Unified School District spokeswoman Cara Rene, police found a pellet gun in a student's backpack.

Tucson Police say a student had the Airsoft gun off campus before school.

Police were called when a motorist reported seeing a child with a possible handgun in the neighborhood near the school at 7777 E. Stella Road.

Rene said the student is being questioned, but police say there is no indication yet of any criminal or malicious intent on the part of the student.
