TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

The Pima Community College Governing Board is meeting Tuesday to discuss the search for a new chancellor.

An announcement on the PCC website said one of the candidates for the position, María C. Sheehan, withdrew from consideration today.

According to the announcement, the co-chairs of a search advisory committee sent a message to college employees on Thursday to notify them of Tuesday's meeting. The message from Brenda B. Even and David Longoria said the search was put on hold "because of concerns that have arisen regarding one of the finalists."

The finalist they referred to was Sheehan, who is the president of the Truckee Meadows Community College in Reno, NV, the announcement said.

Details of what caused the concern were not disclosed.

The Governing Board meeting is scheduled for Tuesday at 7 p.m. in Room A109-112 on the PCC campus at 401 N. Bonita Ave.

Sheehan was one of two finalists for the position. The other is Terrance J. Burgess, Ph.D.

Burgess is the president of San Diego City College in San Diego.
