Contestants from Gilbert and Sierra Vista won the titles of Miss Tucson Desert Rose and Miss Tucson Old Pueblo in Saturday night's annual scholarship pageant.
Victoria Hume and Kim Nason won $500 scholarships in a competition with six other contestants at Whitmore Elementary School.
Hume's talent was a clarinet performance of "Bring Him Home." Her platform was "Celebrate, Remember, Fight Back -- The American Cancer Society."
Nason, 20, graduated from Berean Academy in Sierra Vista. She attends Cochise College. Her talent was a Hawaiian dance. Her platform was "Mix It Up: Teaching Tolerance."
University of Arizona student Natalie Sanchez of Marana was first runner-up.
UA freshman Mayra Jauregui from San Luis was the contestants' choice winner.
Marissa Murdock won a $200 Quality of Life scholarship for her platform, "Helping Children in Poverty."
