Tucson-based non-profit Ben's Bells Project announced today that it is opening a chapter group in Newtown, CT, and continuing the work they started following the tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School.

Jeannette Maré, founder of Ben's Bells, will be in Newtown next week to perform presentations at schools, host public bell-making activities and initiate Ben's Bells Newtown.

Ben's Bells Project first traveled to Newtown and hung 1,000 bells throughout the community on Jan. 8  at the request of residents from Connecticut and around the country, according to a press release.

Ben's Bells is known for its bright, hand-painted, ceramic bells that are hung randomly around public places in Tucson with a note that tells the finder of the bell to take it home and remember to be kind.
