Hospitals all across Arizona are so packed with flu patients, the weekly flu report is having trouble keeping up.
When someone walks into the hospital or health clinic and is diagnosed with the flu, the report goes from that hospital, to the county, then on to the state.
And that is how the numbers are recorded, even when they are slightly wrong. Like the latest graph for this year it shows the flu cases are dropping and that isn't true.
Officials with the state say hospitals were so busy treating patients that data entry fell behind and the actual number of cases is still climbing. But for the past few weeks Arizona has been higher than the past two years; and with numbers coming in now the trend will likely continue next week.
Those health experts say it's likely that the number of flu diagnosis aren't ready to start dropping just yet. Officials say it's not too late to get vaccinated. The flu shot would still be effective now.
They also say if you've got those symptoms and don't feel well, stay at home and keep your kids home from school.
