Happening all this weekend, the Humane Society of Southern Arizona is having an adoption event, and is waiving all the fees.
A particular kind of virus broke out and this facility has been a makeshift cat hospital.
72 cats at the shelter recently came down with the ‘Feline Calici virus', it's a respiratory disease. Those cats were quarantined here and fully recovered after three months, none were euthanized.
They have been vaccinated, socialized and are ready to find their new homes.
The Humane Society has had this backlog for several months and this weekend is waiving the adoption fee. Normally it is $80 to $100 to adopt, this weekend it's free.
On Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., and on Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. at their Companions for Life Center at 3465 E. Kleindale Road, near Ft. Lowell and Country Club.
The Humane Society is adopting cats at all of their locations, but the even here is going to be extra special, the Food Truck Roundup will be here on Saturday, and there will be activities for the kids all weekend.
