GILBERT, AZ (AIA) -

(dketchum@aia365.com/lwillsey@aia365.com) The Salpointe Catholic boys and the Catalina Foothills girls continued their dominance over the Division II Prep Soccer realm.

The Lancers got long distance scores Saturday from Gavino Carranza and Colin O'Brein in defeating Glendale Apollo 2-0 at Campo Verde High School.

The Lancers finished a great season with a 26-2 record in winning its second consecutive D-II crown.

Salpointe outscored their four opponents 20-1 in one of the more dominating title runs ever. Apollo capped a fine tournament considering it was the No. 14 seed. The Hawks finished up 14-9-1, winning three one-goal decisions on the way to the final and giving Salpointe something to contend with in the title game

For Salpointe it was the sixth championship in the 31-year career of legendary coach Wolfgang Weber, the only boys soccer coach in school history. Weber is now tied with Cactus' Jack Altersitz for the most boys soccer crowns in state history.

On the girls side...Falcons sophomore Emily Parker scored two goals as Catalina Foothills dispatched the Hawks 3-0, to win its fourth straight state title and sixth since 2006 under coach Charlie Kendrick.

Aminah Settles scored the other goal for the Falcons on a header.

Catalina Foothills finished at 22-3-2, and the only two losses for Apollo (20-2) were to Catalina Foothills. The other came in the Horizon tournament in December.
