TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - The Tucson Together Fund Board has voted to disband and distribute its funds to the victims of the Jan. 8, 2011 shooting.

The board felt it was appropriate that any of its remaining funds be directed toward those victims because the funds were collected specifically for the victims of that shooting.

The fund was the only official sanctioned fund put in place to assist the victims, families, and witnesses of the tragedy.

"When the Pima County Attorney's Office advised us that a local trial would not be conducted, we made the decision to disband the board and distribute the remaining funds," said Bill Carnegie, Board Chair.

A small portion of the remaining funds were given to a Tucson based non-profit, Homicide Survivors, to be used in any future claims that may be submitted by the victims.
