TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -
Pima County is being
recognized for taking the smoking ban to another level.
The ban is in place for
county buildings such as libraries like this one, but the ban also extends to
parking lots and construction sites.
The non-profit group ‘Arizonans
Concerned about Smoking' presented the county with a health leadership
award.
The award is to recognize
the smoking ban Pima County put in place at the beginning of this year. The non-profit says they were impressed by
the wide range of the policy.
The ban not only includes
cigarettes and cigars but smokeless chewing tobacco and e-cigarettes.
Pima County says it is a
huge honor and hopes to encourage employees and visitors alike to make
healthier choices.
The non-profit says they
hope other places throughout the state will follow in Pima County's footsteps
and consider the program.
