TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

More than a dozen students are scrambling to get the supplies they need to compete in a horse riding competition this Saturday.

The owner of the Lola's Place ranch near Thornydale and Overton says she walked to her facility Monday morning to find someone had kicked open the door and stolen ten saddles and other gear.

Sharon Boenzi instructs more than a dozen students in the 4H club.  She says they care for the animals and perform other ranch duties to earn their saddles and other riding necessities.  She says the stolen gear amounts to thousands of dollars in merchandise.

Boenzi says she filed a report with the Pima County Sheriff's deputies, who say it appears the thieves hopped the locked gates to get into the ranch.

If you would like to help the group, you can call Sharon Boenzi at 520-906-0798.
