TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Nine adults and six children were displaced by a fire Tuesday that destroyed two homes in a mobile home on the west side.

Occupants safely escaped the fire in the 1100 block of West La Osa Drive near West Wetmore and North Flowing Wells roads, Northwest Fire said.

Crews from Southwest Gas and Tucson Electric Power shut off the neighborhood's utilities, leaving some homes not involved in the fire without electricity and gas.

The Red Cross is assisting wwo families with lodging, clothing and food. One is being assisted with lodging and food.

Northwest Fire said windy conditions and the homes proximity to each other were factors in the spread of the fire from one building to another, but the fire was contained to the two homes.

The source of the fire remains under investigation.
