Salpointe boys, Flowing Wells girls lose in state title games

GLENDALE, AZ (Tucson News Now) - The Salpointe Catholic boys and Flowing Wells girls basketball teams came up just short in their quest for state titles Saturday at Arena.

Salpointe lost 45-39 to Paradise Valley in the Division II championship game. Cameron Denson led the Lancers (23-11) with 18 points.

It was Paradise Valley's first state title since 1997.

Flowing Wells fell to Scottsdale Saguaro 49-38 for the Division II girls title.

Flowing Wells senior Lyndsay Leikem scored 19 points and pulled down 11 rebounds. The Indiana recruit had three blocks and four steals in the loss.

The Caballeras finished the season 29-5.
