Before grabbing those running shoes this week, many may have to find a new place to exercise in the morning. Construction is closing one of Tucson's most popular hiking spots, Tumamoc Hill.
Thankfully, the close down will only last for the next few days, and mostly during the daytime hours, when it's closed to hiking anyway.
The path will be closed down from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. today, tomorrow and Wednesday for outdoor activities and to the public.
As many know the route is generally closed to public use between 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. anyway.
Pima County is closing the route to start work on a new communications tower for first responders in the area. It will be a 125 foot tower connecting all the agencies. This new tower will mean bringing down nine other towers and building that are already on top of the hill.
Today is just the beginning of construction, which will continue off and on for the next few months, before wrapping up next June.
