Governor orders flags lowered for AZ Marine killed in Afghanistan

PHOENIX (AP) -

The Department of Defense says a Marine from northeastern Arizona has been killed while serving in Afghanistan.

Pentagon officials say 34-year-old Staff Sgt. Jonathan D. Davis, of Kayenta, died last Friday while conducting combat operations in the Helmand province of Afghanistan.

Details weren't immediately announced Monday.

Davis was assigned to Headquarters Battalion, 32nd Georgian Liaison Team, Regimental Combat Team 7, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force out of Camp Pendleton, Calif.

Gov. Jan Brewer ordered that all state flags be lowered to half staff on Tuesday and on the day of Davis' interment, for which services are pending.
