11th Signal Brigade headquarters leaving Ft. Huachuca

FT. HUACHUCA (Tucson News Now) - The Department of Defense is giving the go-ahead for the relocation of the 11th Signal Brigade Headquarters.  It will move from Ft. Huachuca to Fort Hood, Texas.

The military says this move has nothing to do with the looming automatic budget cuts in Congress or other military base realignments approved years ago.

The move involves about 100 active duty personnel, commanders say.  The 11th Signal Brigade Headquarters executes mission command of signal battalions and provides Network Operations for communications networks and information systems for operational forces worldwide.

The move is set to take place by July, but the DOD says it could happen as late as Summer 2014.
