A massive cocaine smuggling ring has been busted and police say it included two people from Tucson.
So far, 30 people have been arrested; all of them in Florida except for 31 year old Daniel Torrez and 30 year old Jessica Arvizu from Tucson.
According to court documents we've obtained, it appears Torrez and Arvizu mailed large amounts of cocaine from Tucson to Palm Beach County, Florida.
Federal prosecutors say one of the men arrested in Florida was "the biggest cocaine dealer in the county," and that Torrez, is the alleged "head of the ring."
Called "Operation Tumbleweed," the undercover investigation started in 2011 when authorities started intercepting the packages being shipped from Tucson to Florida. If convicted, many of the defendants each face up to life in prison.
