A Mesa taxi cab driver is in jail on suspicion of telling a female passenger he would waive the fare in exchange for sexual favors, police said.
Eric Vincent, 43, voluntarily turned himself in to Mesa police on Tuesday after authorities identified him as an employee of Discount Cab Company.
The victim came forward on Friday to report the incident. She said she declined the offer and when they arrived at her destination, she paid her fare and exited the cab, according to Mesa police spokesman Detective Steve Berry.
The next day, Mesa police received information that a second woman had complained to the cab company about a driver offering to waive her fare in exchange for sexual favors.
The second victim was picked up in a different East Valley location, but described the same cab driver, Berry said. The victim declined the offer, paid her fare and was dropped off at her destination.
During a police interview, officers said Vincent admitted to offering to dismiss the cab fare in exchange for sex.
Berry said it's possible there are other victims who have not come forward. If anyone has had a similar contact with a cab driver or knows of a similar encounter, they are asked to call the Mesa Police Department at 480- 644-2211 or Silent Witness at 480-Witness.
