TUCSON, AZ (TNN) – The planned widening of Broadway Boulevard between Euclid Avenue and Country Club Road will have another public question and comment meeting at Child and Family Resources, 2800 E. Broadway Boulevard, on March 21st from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30p.m.
Critics range from business owners who would have to move to neighbors who don't think the expanse of pavement is worth it.
Broadway would expand to eight lanes between Euclid and Country Club. Six of them would be for traffic and two of them would be for buses. The $71 million project includes a raised median and bike lanes in each direction. This is part of the RTA plan that voters approved in 2006. But opponents say the traffic projections are out of date and the widening is unnecessary. The project will begin in 2016.
