Tucson boom mystery solved

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Officials from Luke AFB now confirm to Tucson News Now, a F-16 flying training missions in the Sells area west of Tucson went supersonic on Wednesday night.

The aircraft from the 425th Fighter Squadron was flying training missions at approximately 7:45 p.m., and broke the sound barrier northwest of Kitt Peak.

Hundreds of people called 9-1-1 reporting the boom, which shook windows, and set off car alarms from Rita Ranch to Avra Valley.
