SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, AZ (Tucson News Now) -
A pedestrian, believed to be a woman, was killed Sunday night on Interstate 19 southbound after she was hit by a vehicle.
Interstate 19 was closed southbound as of 8:25 p.m. between kilometer 42 and 48 because of the accident, the Arizona Department of Public Safety said.
The DPS was on scene with the Border Patrol.
The accident happened around 7:15 p.m.
Witnesses report seeing a Blackhawk helicopter in the area, helping in the investigation.
