TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -
With spring break just around the corner, AAA Arizona is reminding travelers to stay safe if heading south of the border.
The auto club offers the following advice:
- Use recommended border crossings. That means the Lukeville crossing if you're heading to Rocky Point.
- Carry a passport. Citizens are required to have a passport to get back into the United States.
- Travel smart. Stay with your party at all times.
- Know the laws and who to call if you need help. Always travel with a cell phone and save important contact numbers.
- Be insured. U.S. auto insurance is not valid in Mexico. AAA says you should consider buying a short-term Mexican insurance policy or trip insurance.
