TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

A 17-year-old Pueblo High School student was arrested Tuesday and charged with murder, Pima County Sheriff's Deputy Tom Peine told Tucson News Now.

Sammy Anthony Tarrazas, Jr. was charged in connection with a Sunday homicide after being apprehended near the Pueblo campus at 3500 S. 12th Ave.

Deputies followed investigative leads and came to the school, where they observed the suspect's vehicle, Peine said.

When they located Tarrazas, he attempted to run away but was captured and taken into custody around 12:30 p.m.

Tarrazas was charged in the death of 19-year-old Tucsonan Jesus Duarte, who was shot around 11:40 p.m. Sunday in the 6400 Block of South Camino de la Tierra.

Durate was taken to the hospital but died from his wounds, Peine said.

Before being shot, Durate was pleading for his life, witnesses told deputies.

"Through their investigation, detectives learned that the victim had an intimate affair with a female who was in a relationship with Sammy Tarrazas," Peine said. "Evidently, Tarrazas lured Duarte outside of his residence on the night of the murder and then shot him multiple times."

Terrazas was booked into the Pima County Adult Detention Center.
