TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Happening later this morning, Tucsonans could see smoke coming from the west side, but don't worry it's a controlled burn.

The burn will take place at the Sweetwater Wetlands, starting at about 8:30 a.m.

This burn will do two things, it will get rid of a lot of mosquitoes as Tucson Fire will be burning down some older and dead plants where the mosquitoes may be living and thriving.

It will also provide a great real ‘live fire' exercise to help train firefighters. The Tucson Fire Department does this burn every year.

Tucson Fire Department officials say the burn could last from now until noon or even 2 p.m.
