The Florence Unified School District posted a letter to parents regarding the discovery of a "hit list" created by two of its students.
TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -
Deputies from the Pinal County Sheriff's Office are investigating a "hit list" that was posted on a social media site by two girls, both cheerleaders.
According to a news release an 8th grader at Walker Butte K-8 and a 10th grader at Poston Butte High School created the list and posted it on Instagram.
A parent of one of the students on the list discovered it and reported it to Florence Unified School District officials, who reported it to the Sheriff's office.
The list was accompanied by an icon of a pistol, next to the words "hit list," the release said.
According to the release, the girls told deputies they did not intend to harm anyone on the list, which included a teacher. They told deputies the list was only a list of people they disliked.
The Sheriff's office and school administrators continue to investigate the case.
The case could possibly be submitted to the Pinal County Attorney's Office for charges of threatening and intimidating, the release said.
