The Tucson Police Department is asking for help identifying two women they say are involved in a phone scam.

According to police, the women were part of a scheme to steal thousands of dollars from a man who was in town for the gem and mineral show last month.

The man got a phone call from a man who he thought was a friend. The caller said his car had broken down and he needed money. When the victim agreed to loan him the money, the caller arranged to have the two women come to the victim's hotel at 475 North Granada Avenue to pick up the money.

One of the women is described as African-American, 25 to 30 years old, 5'5" to 5'6" tall, 130 to 140 pounds. She was wearing denim pants and a white or grey hooded jacket.

The second woman is described as Hispanic or Indian, 25 to 30, 5'4", 120 to 140 pounds and possibly pregnant. She was wearing blackish/brown tights and a camouflage jacket.

Anyone with information about these suspects is urged to call 911 or 88-CRIME.
