TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -
A proposed Tucson law on reporting missing guns is drawing criticism.
It would require people to promptly notify police when guns are lost or stolen.
Advocates for gun owners say that the law would burden crime victims and police.
Councilman Steve Kozachik is proposing the ordinance.
He says requiring reports would help track guns used in crimes and make it harder for people to turn over guns to criminals.
A draft of the proposal should be ready by March 19.
