One dead after 18-wheeler hits car going wrong way on I-20

SMITH COUNTY, TX (KLTV) -

Smith County DPS confirms one man is dead after he drove the wrong way down the interstate and collided head-on with an 18-wheeler.

Around midnight, a Chevrolet Corvette driving eastbound in the westbound lanes of I-20 collided with an 18-wheeler near mile marker 561, just west of FM 14.

According to authorities on the scene, no one else was injured in the wreck.

The identity of the victim has not been released pending notification of next of kin.
