TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -
Time is running out for students looking for summer jobs.
Pima County One Stop is hosting the youth program.
It provides job-seekers with training and networking with employers.
They are currently taking applications for more than a thousand summer jobs. However, this year because of budget cuts, they might not be able to hire as many as in the past.
Some of the students will actually get paid to go to school. This will help improve their reading or math skills. Others will get hired throughout Pima County.
Many Pima County families are feeling the struggle to finds summer jobs.
"She's been trying to get a job at like fast food restaurants in the area and its been hard," said Pauline Ridriguez, a mother of two teenagers. "With her being 16 and my son being 17, they just can't do it, so this is another way for them to get through."
All kids who apply must take an assessment test; the deadline to apply is Friday, March 15.
