Public meeting on what should replace golf course

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Happening today, a city golf course known for losing money will be discussed at a public meeting.  Fred Enke is set to close, but the question remains, what will the city do with the property.

Late last year the city council voted to close Fred Enke within eight months and convert it to some type of outdoor recreation facility if a private investor wasn't willing to buy it.

The golf course was opened in 1983, but has been losing money for several years and is one of five courses operated by the city.

Tonight's meeting is to hear from the public on what type of outdoor recreation they would like to see here.

The meeting is at 6 p.m. at the William Clements Recreation Center at 8155 E. Poinciana.
