TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

A school on Tucson's northwest side was locked down today while police searched for a man who ran away from a nearby traffic stop.

A spokesperson for Laguna Elementary School at 5001 N. Shannon Rd. confirmed the school was locked down, meaning nobody in and nobody out.

No one was injured in the incident.

It all started shortly after 10 a.m. when the Arizona Department of Public Safety pulled over a white Chevy Tahoe along the I-10 frontage road at West Sunset Road.

Police say the driver of the Tahoe took off on foot and headed for a trailer park and junk yard east of the interstate.

A search for the suspect lasted more than two hours, police say.

The suspect was considered potentially dangerous because police found several weapons inside his vehicle, including an AK-47 assault rifle.

The suspect was never found.

School resumed as scheduled at Laguna Elementary throughout the afternoon.
