AYNOR, SC (WMBF) -

A South Carolina man is facing charges for sexual misconduct after emails he sent to two teen girls brought his alleged indiscretions with another to light.

The incident report from Horry County Police indicates 32-year-old Jerry David Love of Galivants Ferry began a relationship with a teen girl in May 2012.

The teenager admitted the relationship to school officials on March 11, saying it began by accident when she mistakenly touched him on the ride home from a church trip.

The report states in the time they were together, Love would pick the teen up from school in the afternoons and return her before a parent arrived to pick her up.

Aynor High School student Andrew Bellamy says, "We're all a little bumfuzzled. It's just crazy. Especially being involved in church and things like that."

News of the relationship surfaced when two other teen girls at the same school began receiving emails from Jerry Love - emails they reported to school administrators in early March.

Those "uncomfortable" emails led to Love's arrest. He has been charged with sexual battery with a student. In his arraignment hearing at 3 p.m. Wednesday afternoon, Love was given a $10,000 bond.

The victim's mother, who was present at the bond hearing, alleges that Love would beat her daughter when he picked her up from school to have sex with her, a claim police have yet to confirm.

When Love is released from jail he will be required to wear an electronic monitoring device.

Horry County Schools spokeswoman Teal Britton says Love was employed as a substitute teacher, usually filling in at Aynor Middle and Aynor High School, but he has been removed from the substitute list.

Britton explains that Love has been with Horry County School District for at least two years.

Sgt. Kegler says that the fact that the two other girls came forward leads them to believe that this case is far from closed, and parents need to be aware.

"That comes down to being a nosy parent, Whatever types of pages they have that require a password, have that stuff," Kegler insists.
