TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -
President Obama spoke to workers at the Argonne
National Factory in Illinois today in an effort to encourage Congress to authorize
money for clean energy research.
The Commander-in-Chief toured the non-profit research
laboratory run by the University of Chicago for the Department of Energy, addressing
the effects of the sequester's forced federal budget cuts on research and
development.
"I want the next job-creating breakthroughs, whether it's in
energy or non-technology or bioengineering," Obama said. "I want those
breakthroughs to be right here in the United States of America, creating
American jobs and maintaining our technological lead."
Argonne employs more than 1,200 scientists and engineers, who
focus in vehicle technology research.
