Bystanders removed a 1-year-old girl from a hot car and cooled her with a wet towel Saturday afternoon, Marana Police told Tucson News Now.
The incident happened around 1:50 p.m. at a shopping center on Ina and Thornydale roads, Sgt. Chris Warren said.
Police were questioning the girl's father, Warren said, after he allegedly left the child in the car for 10 to 15 minutes outside a Bookman's store. They were in contact with Child Protective Services in regard to possible charges or other action, he said.
"Good Samaritans saw the baby in the car," Warren said. "A window was slightly down. They were able to open the door, remove the child and apply a cold towel."
The girl was sweaty and warm but not in medical distress when paramedics arrived, Northwest Fire Capt. Adam Goldberg said. She was not taken to the hospital.
