A 30-year-old hiker was been taken to safety after from Sabino Canyon calling 9-1-1 Saturday afternoon, Pima County Sheriff's Deputy Tom Peine told Tucson News Now.
Deputies and Customs and Border Patrol responded, with Customs Air and Marine sending a helicopter to the area of Hutch's Pool about 8 miles from the Sabino Canyon trailhead.
The hiker was in a rugged area and the helicopter could not land, Peine said.
The helicopter crew requested a Blackhawk helicopter, which carries emergency medical technicians on board, Peine said.
The hiker was dehydrated, Peine said.
Later Saturday, a 55-year-old hiker was rescued by helicopter from Mt. Kimball, one of the highest peaks on the southern front of the Catalina Mountains.
