TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -
Arizona will play Belmont on Thursday at Salt Lake City in the first round of the NCAA basketball tournament.
The Wildcats (25-7) were one of five Pac-12 teams chosen Sunday. Tournament champion Oregon, regular-season champion UCLA, Colorado and California also made the field.
Arizona was seeded No. 6 and will face either No. 3 New Mexico or No. 14 Harvard in the West Region on Saturday in the second round, if it beats Belmont.
Belmont (26-6) is the Ohio Valley Conference regular-season and tournament champion from Nashville, Tenn.
The Bruins and Arizona have never played. But Belmont played on the Wildcats' home floor in 2011 when it came to Tucson for the tournament as a No. 11 seed against Wisconsin.
Belmont has not won an NCAA tournament game. It is 1-4 lifetime against Pac-12 teams, having won 70-62 this season at Stanford.
Elsewhere, Louisville earns the overall No. 1 seed. Other top seeds: Kansas, Indiana and Gonzaga.
Oregon was a No. 12 seed and will play fifth-seeded Oklahoma State in the Midwest region.
UCLA was seeded sixth and will meet No. 11 Minnesota in the South region.
No. 12 California will take on UNLV, and No. 10 Colorado will play No. 7 Illinois in the East.
