Northern Kentucky has seen promising economic growth, according to a new report.
The Northern Kentucky Tri-County Economic Development Corporation (Tri-ED) says in 2012, 2,932 new jobs were added to the Boone, Campbell and Kenton County region.
In addition, 24 companies announced new locations or expansions in the Northern Kentucky Tri-County area. Tri-ED estimates those businesses will create more than 3,700 new jobs for the region.
On Wednesday, Tri-ED presented a 'Thoroughbred Award' to each of the 24 companies.
"They have invested in their companies. Their capital investments are enormous, and we want to thank them for growing and prospering and creating new jobs here in Northern Kentucky," said Gary W. Moore, Chairman of Northern Kentucky Tri-ED.
Officials say total job creation for the region in 2012 nearly tripled what was reported in 2011.
