Today, Fort Huachuca is hosting a memorial to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the beginning of Operation Iraqi Freedom, and to remember Captain Christopher Seifert, the first U.S. Army Commissioned Officer to die in the conflict.
Seifert was killed a decade ago today, while serving with the 101st Airborne Division. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. at The Seifert School Age Services Center, which was dedicated to honor the captain in May 2004.
Captain Seifert is survived by his wife and their son, who is now 10-years-old.
