Man arrested for child pornography

PHOENIX (CBS5) -

A Phoenix man has been arrested for having child pornography on his computer in a Phoenix neighborhood near several schools.

Christopher Ray Jurgens, 46, was arrested Thursday by Phoenix Police at a home near 32nd Street and Van Buren.

Detectives from the Arizona Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force found him by tracking his computer. Court records show he admitted to viewing the images for personal gratification and knew that it was illegal.

Investigators said he had numerous photos and videos of child pornography on his home computer and court records show he and a roommate collected items that were stored in the garage that included hello kitty paraphernalia, children's coloring books, children's toys and candy and drinks, while no children lived at the home.

"He only came outside to do his lawn, his yard and that's it," said one neighbor who asked to remain anonymous.

The area is surrounded by several schools in the Wilson School District and the neighbors are outraged.

"I just think it's disgusting. There are so many kids around here," said Camille Yanez. "There's a ton of kids around here and the fact that he had kids things in his house is just really creepy so I'm really happy they caught him."

Phoenix Police Detectives from the Arizona Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force found him by tracking his computer. Court records show he admitted to viewing the images for personal gratification and knew that it was illegal. Police say there are no known victims in his neighborhood and cautions parents to talk with their kids.

"Parents need to sit down and talk with their kids. If they should find themselves involved with anyone who wants to touch them inappropriately or take pictures of them inappropriately, tell their parents," said Sgt. Tommy Thompson

Jurgens is facing 10 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor.
